AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) invites potential Project Sponsors in Virginia to apply for our teams of developing leaders. This class marks the second year of NCCC’s Southern Region Campus in Vicksburg, MS, and the 17^th year NCCC has been strengthening communities and developing leaders nationwide.

The Southern Region Campus assigns teams to service projects lasting 3-8 weeks, to help communities meet their most compelling needs. Teams are available during four rounds (see table below)

Round start and end dates listed below are subject to change, and proposed projects need not fill the entire round.

We have developed a simple two-step process to apply for a team: a Project Concept Form and a Project Application. Potential sponsors must complete a Concept Form. If the Project Concept Form meets NCCC requirements and regional priorities, a full application will be requested.

Please allow two weeks for Southern Region staff to review your Concept Form. Upon successful review, you will be invited to submit a Project Application. Southern Region staff will contact you to provide technical assistance with composing the application. Team awards will be announced about 6 weeks after the application deadline.

Have you marked your calendar for May 23, 2012 - Day of Caring? Agencies are currently submitting their projects. Volunteers will be able to register for projects April 11th - May 11th. Keep checking for more important dates.

The Day of Caring is just around the corner! May 23, 2012 is the date chosen for our 19th Annual Day of Caring. The event is a region-wide day of service during which volunteers from area businesses and organizations visit, assist and complete projects at one of our community's non-profit agencies. More than 1,200 volunteers participate to complete more than 200 projects around Central Virginia. Day of Caring is a HUGE service-oriented event that has a very large impact on the Central Virginia community.

One for Another welcomes Girls on the Run!

Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun experience-based curriculum which integrates running. The core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls' development - their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. The program is for girls age eight to thirteen that combines training for a 3.1 mile run event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. Help girls reach their potential by volunteering with Girls on the Run.
